My Story
Every great journey begins with a story. Unfortunately mine is rather accidental.
Any person who is regularly running will almost always have a reason they got into it and consequently do it often, mainly to get fit, mental health reasons or during lockdown. I don’t really have a reason other than getting a text one random Thursday evening from my friend Sophia telling me that she’d signed me up for running club that night. There had been some discussion from Sue who’d recently done the Couch to 5K with the local club that she would like some company at park runs, so this didn’t come as a total shock, but still, running club?! I hated running, or at least I thought I did. And anyway I didn’t even own a pair of trainers so I quickly convinced myself that there was no way I could go anyway. However. As the blog goes on you will come to realise I’m someone who rarely says no and tends to make most things work, so with a pair of my sister’s Primark trainers that were found far back of the wardrobe I went to ‘running club’ and safe to say I never looked back! Although thankfully did buy better trainers!
The reason for the blog!
I have made this blog as I’ve got big goals this year! I have entered into my first 100 mile ultra marathon. Now even as I’m typing this, that seems quite scary but not have I only entered 1 of them but I have entered 4! All taking place in 2024, which seems crazy but if the goal doesn’t scare you then is it big enough?
I love using running as a way to push myself to limits I would never of thought possible.
Therefore the blog is to capture some of the training, some of the thoughts and basically just be a keepsake for me to look back on whilst hopefully being useful/entertaining to others. I am a very average runner, who has very little natural ability so speed certainly is not my game! But I do love running. Especially on the trails, so I’m highly excited and motivated with the only goals being completion and having a good time! I am also extremely fortunate to be surrounded by fab people who without I wouldn’t even of contemplated taking on this challenge so hopefully I get to make some pretty sweet memories with them in the process.
